Unlike others of Oswald Haerdtl’s early designs, this floor lamp works completely without the typical organic features and marks the transition to his later works. The simple brass stem is decorated only with a custom-made crystal part, usually found among rather traditional designs. This the most minimalistic yet elegant design by Haerdtl.
The striking detail of the original design is the special shade with folded textile on a wire frame. This is held together by a simple cord and a prominently laced bow. Despite the simple look this shade is the true eye catcher of this design. The technique requires highest skill allowing only for small numbers in manufacture.
Still the lamp is amply available with more regular shades in a wide variety of fabrics, shapes and colours.
