Lotus, white, glazed, hand painted
The teapot in Wolfgang von Wersin’s 1932 Lotus range is a masterpiece of perfection in its own right. In 2011, Sebastian Menschhorn has given it a contemporary new look. There is a large, stylised blossom stretching across the smooth white of the porcelain like a delicate hand-drawn tattoo. The single-colour floral pattern is derived from ancient Oriental symbols which originally stood for growth, sensuality and wealth. This transforms a simple teapot into a bearer of cultural insignia.
