Making use of the Sputnik Elements we developed after the restoration of the original chandeliers for the Metropolitan Opera in 2008 we devised this miniature cascade as homage to the installation of the chandelier in the Opera.
The Mini-Sputniks are illuminated using low voltage halogen bulbs. They come in two sizes of 6 and 9 lights. These are suspended from free swinging brass poles. In between non-illuminated sputniks as on the chandeliers are placed to augment the impression.
The ceiling mirror is from brass with a nickel finish and houses the ceiling mount and the electric periphery. Effectively every shape and size is possible though 90 cm is the larges feasible size for round versions. Other shapes such as squares, rectangles or twists and curls are also possible. The shiny surface of the mirror gives the impression as if the cascade continued infinitely aloft.
